The adblock menu icon should appear in the statusbar as illustrated.
If it does not appear it can be for one of the following reasons.
You are using Windows 7 with pinned sites
All addons are disabled in Internet Explorer, when using pinned sites on Windows 7. When opening Internet Explorer from the windows menu plugins are enabled including Simple Adblock.
The statusbar is disabled within Internet Explorer
Enable the status bar from View -> Toolbars -> Status Bar

You are using Internet Explorer 9, with an old version of Simple Adblock
Only version 0.8.7 and above supports Internet Explorer 9.

Simple Adblock has been disabled within Internet explorer addons
Goto Manage addons and enable SimpleAdblock Class

Third party extensions are disabled within Internet explorer
Goto Internet Options and in the advanced tab and enable thirdparty extensions

You are using inprivate browsing mode within Internet Explorer
With Internet Explorers Inprivate Browsing mode all extensions are disabled by default. You can enable extensions in “Inprivate Browsing” in Internet Options on the security tab.
